Lifteknic supply control system
for the high speed lift in the National Lift Tower Northampton. Present Speed achieved 4.0M/s
with 2:1 roping (Possible 8M/s 1:1)
For many years Lifteknic has
prided itself with its designs for challenging High speed High Rise Lift control systems,
so when asked to provide one of our systems for what could potentially be one of the fastest and longest travel elevators
in Europe, we were of course interested.
The National Lift Tower is a
Grade II listed building and is a Northamptonshire Landmark.
Built by the Express Lift Company
and subsequently taken over by Otis, it was designed to test lift systems and components.
Standing at 127 Meters it is
an unusual site for miles around resembling a lighthouse that is miles inland, albeit an unmanned one as testing came to an
end in 1999 and the lights turned off.
The recent project to breathe
new life into the tower is the brain child of a local Business man and Entrepreneur. His
vision is to make this valuable asset available to all associated with the U.K lift industry, for development and education.
Working closely with Northampton University it will provide a training facility that is second to none.
